America's birthday

Another year celebrating Independence Day in this beautiful country.  It looked like a great sunny day, very hot my family informed me.  My little grand kids came over to our mom to celebrate the holiday with barbecue, salads, fruits, treats, games for the kids and lots of other fun activities.

You might be wondering why I seemed to be outside of the picture.  In a way I had been.  Today, after my
many years of celebrating this joyful holiday with my family, i am in bed.  I had been diagnosed with breast cancer.  It all happened so fast, I can't remember when all started, but it has been fairly recent.

About almost 4 weeks ago, I went to have a mammograme done just for the sake of it.  At the end of the imaging they said they saw a lump.  So, the doctor ordered more images added plus an ultra sound, which all of it confirmed, I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma.

Just this past Monday June 29 they did a lumpectomy and discovered that 8 of my lymph nodes had cancer so they removed them as well.

Today, I am at home, in bed, recovering from surgery  My kids came over to say hello, Landon and Kate too.  Husband is having a well deserved break at his mom, where all the action has been, after cleaning and working hard to make me comfortable

In 2 to 3 weeks they will start with the chemo and radiation.  Chemo will be around 4 to 6 months and then 2 more months of radiation.  Let's hope I won't have any new surprises this coming Thursday when i see the doctor to have a follow up of the surgery.

More updates will come as i feel like writing.
